Design approach for BTP configurators

I completed an eight-week professional internship in the QUOTEX company, in order to complete my training, my knowledge of this environment and the requirements linked to the exercise of my future job.

This internship was an opportunity to raise my awareness of the evolution of technologies in construction, thanks to my various tasks and activities accomplished as part of this in-company training. During this period I created databases for the construction industry, which was still missing from the many existing databases

I therefore looked for coherent information to keep only the most relevant ones which I then inserted into the different databases. I also created configurators.

A total of six configurators were produced during this course, one which relates to the sizing of foundations, another relating to earthworks, a third based on the sizing of a slab, two others on different concrete manufacturing BPE (Ready Concrete for use) and BFC for small quantities (Concrete Made on Site) and a last one on different construction machines.

For this task I first determined sizing formulas and then created interfaces that could be understood by both people who are experts in this field and people who are completely foreign to the building sector by integrating explanatory diagrams produced using Sketchup pro software. .

The user must enter two or three input data to obtain a dimension. All these tasks were established on Excel because it is much more familiar to begin with and then easily converted on the QDV7 Converter software to finally be integrated into the QV7 software.

I also wrote a user manual for the Foundation configurator, the most complex but also the most powerful.

I would like to thank Mr Ménager who during these several weeks introduced me to a new aspect of the building industry and the building economy by letting me work on different projects.

Ophélie GUERIN I am currently in the first year of a BTS EEC (Construction Studies and Economics) at the Aimé Césaire high school in Clisson ( High school website ).

Previously I obtained a professional baccalaureate TEBAA (Technician Study of the Building option Architect Assistant), at the Jean Moulin high school in Angers ( Lycée Jean Moulin ) and I also hold a second professional baccalaureate TEBEE (Technician Study of the Building option Studies and Economics ) at the Michelet high school in Nantes .

Opinion of the internship supervisor:

Ophélie demonstrated great autonomy and a great spirit of initiative. She arrived at a result entirely in line with expectations and the configurators she created are very ergonomic and functional.

For their implementation, once the BTP_paquet.rar folder has been downloaded and unzipped, you store everything in a directory then in QDV7 you point to this directory in path 6 of the databases. Contact us if you have any installation problems.
