On November 29, 2014, I completed the BAC+5 Business Management continuing education cycle offered each year by ESSCA ( Angers Business School).
Two years earlier I had chosen to join this course to develop my knowledge in the field of business management. Coming from a technical background and having held different positions in commercial functions, it seemed useful to me to deepen the notions of finance and corporate rights; project management, change management and human resources management or even marketing, concepts that I face every day in my role as Manager of QUOTEX. The Master's degree offered by ESSCA in continuing education fully meets my expectations.
Admission:
Admission is done via the TAGE-MAGE exam, an assessment of the level of English and finally an individual interview to assess the motivations of the candidates: given the personal investment required, it is better to be good extremely motivated!
Program offered by ESSCA:
A busy program (720 hours) followed for 2 full days every two weeks for 2 years, on Fridays and Saturdays from January to November of the following year. So, 19 of us found ourselves, twice a month on the school benches.
The training is organized in 4 semesters each covering a main theme. Firstly, discovering the fundamentals allows trainees coming from very diverse backgrounds to get up to speed on notions of micro and macro economics, statistics and English.
The second semester is oriented towards organization, project management and the digitalization of the company and always English.
Then comes internationalization, human resources management, marketing and leadership development.
Finally, the last quarter is oriented towards the synthesis with the creation of a business plan and its presentation in 8-minute pitch mode in front of professionals and speakers to simulate a real fundraising, which each entrepreneur may be confronted with in the real life.
Continuous assessment assessment takes the form of table checks and individual or group work throughout the program. Preparing for and taking the TOEIC is part of the program.
Academic training requiring the production of a dissertation on a free theme was requested. For my part, I chose to work on the use of social networks in the B2B purchasing process.
My experience :
In retrospect and cold, happy to have reached the end, I draw a very positive assessment of this approach. The program offered as well as the faculty who deliver it are of exceptional quality. Each path is different: some speakers are purely academic while others come from business and have worked in very heterogeneous fields and structures.
Beyond the program, it is the vision of the company in its environment that is profoundly altered. The effort required does not leave us unscathed, everyone is turned upside down, sometimes moments of doubt and real suffering set in.
Ultimately, we have to reposition ourselves and gain height in our role, our company but also on a personal level. A real transformation is taking place (it even seems that it is not yet finished: you will see what you will see!).
Now, it's the jury awarding diplomas on January 12 and the presentation of these in March, and of course the return to working life at 200%.
